Robert J. Foster is the President and CEO of Capital Canada which he founded in 1975. Capital Canada Limited is an independent investment banking firm providing financial services to corporations and entrepreneurs in Canada and abroad. Mr. Foster focuses on negotiating and structuring mergers, acquisitions and financings. He has a long history of successful transactions, with a particular emphasis on media, sports and entertainment, aviation and real estate.
His background includes periods as an analyst, director of research, corporate finance, sales and director of sales. He founded Capital Canada in 1975 and has built a strong reputation in the financial community.
Mr. Foster serves on both corporate and charitable boards and is active throughout the community.
Mr. Foster currently serves on the board of Intertape Polymer Group Incorporated; Toronto Artscape Incorporated; The Harbourfront Foundation and Business for the Arts.
Mr. Foster has previously served on the board of CHC Helicopters Corporation, Golf Town Income Trust, Cargojet Aviation, Canada 3000 Airlines Limited and Canadian Regional Airlines amongst others. His past community board memberships have included Governor General’s Performing Arts Awards Gala (Chair); Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars Canadian Advisory Board (Dinner Chair); Richard J. Schmeelk Foundation (Chair); PC Canada Fund (Chair) and PC Ontario Fund (Chair); Theatre Plus (Chair); Queens University Chair in Economics (Funding Co-Chair); Toronto Olympic Bid Corporation (Vice Chair); Ticker Club (President); Board of Memorial University, St. John’s Newfoundland; Toronto French School; Art Gallery of Ontario; National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation; and Toronto Club.
Mr. Foster was born in Vancouver and educated at the University of British Columbia and Queen’s University where he received his B.A. and M.A. In 1975 he earned his Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
